My name is Myles Edmundson. I am a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. I joined the Coast Guard in March of 2000. For six years, I served in the Coast Guard. My first unit was the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence. After serving aboard the Diligence, I transferred to Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown, where I was trained as a Gunners Mate. That’s a firearms technician for those of you not familiar with Navy/Coast Guard jargon. I learned how to fix and repair pistols and rifles up to and including the Browning Fifty Caliber Machine Gun. After completing my Gunners Mate training, I was sent to Marine Safety Office New Orleans. I spent the next five years there. I eventually changed specialties to a Marine Science Technician. My main job was a pollution investigator. Marine Safety Office New Orleans, now Sector New Orleans, handled more pollution cases per week than other Coast Guard units handled in a year. I consider it the best unit in the Coast Guard to learn the pollution investigator’s job. After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, I decided it was time to get out of the Coast Guard. That was when I elected to not reenlist. After that, I returned to civilian life. I am now a veteran. I come from a family of military service members. My Grandfather, uncles, and my own mother have all serviced in the military.
In my civilian life, I have become a writer. I am writing a series of novels with my writing partner, Michael Brown. Our series is called “The Atlantis Chronicles”, which is now in print. It can be found on Amazon.
